NTA Revises JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Exam Schedule

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has revised the exam dates for JEE Main 2026 Session 1. The exam was originally scheduled to be held between 21^st January and 29^th January. According to the latest notice issued by the NTA, the JEE Main exam scheduled for January 23, 2026, in West Bengal has been postponed.

This decision was taken in view of the Saraswati Puja celebrations in the state. Candidates who were allotted exam centres in West Bengal on January 23 will now be given a new exam date.

NTA through an official post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) stated, “In view of the representations received from candidates in the state of West Bengal regarding the celebration of Saraswati Puja on 23rd January 2026, it has been decided that all candidates scheduled to appear for JEE (Main) in West Bengal on 23rd January 2026 shall be allotted another date of examination among the advertised dates for JEE (Main) 2026 Session 1 examination.”

The official notice clarifies that all candidates scheduled to appear for the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 exam on 23rd January in West Bengal will have the opportunity to appear for the exam on any other day from the announced dates. Affected students of West Bengal will be allotted new dates between 21–29 January.

Information regarding the new exam date will be made available to candidates later. While, except West Bengal aspirants, the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 will remain as previous for the aspirants of rest parts of the country.

JEE Main 2026 Session 1 from 21 January

The JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Exam will be held from 21st to 29th January. While the B.E./B.Tech. Paper 1 will take place on 21, 22, 23, 24, and 28 January, 2026, B.Arch./B.Planning Paper 2 will be held on 29th January 2026. The Second session of the JEE Main 2026 will be conducted from 1 April to 8 April 2026.

The JEE Main 2026 Session 1 examination will be held in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. The Paper 2 of JEE Main 2026 session 1 will be pen and paper-based test (PBT) for drawing section in B. Arch. The Paper 1 Exam will be held in 2 shifts each day, whereas the Paper 2 will be held in 1 shift only.

The Paper 1 Shift 1 will take place from 9 am to 12 noon, the shift 2 timing is 3 pm to 6 pm. The Paper 2 will take place only in 1 shift from 9 am to 12.30 pm. The examination will be conducted in several cities across the country as well as 15 cities abroad.

JEE Main 2026 Exam City Slip Released

NTA has already released the JEE Main 2026 exam city intimation slip. Candidates can download it from the official website. To view the city slip, candidates will need to enter their application number, password or date of birth, and security PIN.

When will the JEE Main 2026 admit cards be released?

According to the information bulletin, the JEE Main 2026 admit cards will be released 3 to 4 days before the exam. Admit cards are likely to be made available on the official website by January 17, 2026. Candidates are advised to check the website regularly.

Candidates can download their admit card by following the simple steps below:

Visit the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in
Click on the “JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Admit Card” link on the homepage
Enter the application number and date of birth
Click the submit button
The admit card will appear on the screen.
Download the admit card and take a printout.

Important Instructions on the Day of the Exam

Candidates must carry a printed copy of their admit card to the exam centre. Without it, they will not be admitted to the exam. Candidates are also advised to regularly monitor the official website for any new information regarding the exam. Rely solely on the official NTA website for all updates and new announcements related to JEE Main 2026.
