National Standard Examination (NSE) 2020-2021 | Check Stages, New Pattern and Exam Schedule

National Standard Examination (NSE) conducted by IAPT in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy, Junior Science is the first stage for the international Olympiad. All stages are conducted by Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education (HBCSE), Mumbai.

This year, National Standard Examination (NSE) 2020-21 pattern has been changed by the exam conducting body due to Corona Pandemic.

Earlier Exam had 2 Stages,  but now it has been turned into single stage, named “Indian Olympiad Qualifier (IOQ)”

Indian Olympiad Qualifier (IOQ):

A Three-Hour Two-Part examination called the Indian Olympiad Qualifier (IOQ), jointly organised by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) and the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research) – HBCSE (TIFR).An Orientation-cum-Selection Camp (OCSC) organised by HBCSE.

Indian Olympiad Qualifier (IOQ) in each subject will be a combination of Two Examinations (Part I: National Standard Examination-NSE & Part II: Indian National Olympiad-INO),held in a single sitting for the examinee.

Part I: National Standard Examination (NSE)

Exam Duration: 01:00 Hr

Exam Pattern: Multiple-choice question similar in standard to the usual NSE.

Note: This part will be a screening examination for selective evaluation of the second part (INO) only.

Part II: Indian National Olympiad (INO)

Exam Duration: 02:00 Hrs

Exam Pattern: The test consist of objective as well as long questions similar in standard to the usual INO.

Note: This part will be evaluated only for students screened through the first part (NSE), and the selection for the next level (OCSC) will be determined solely by the performance in this part.

Screening Criteria for OCSC

The screening criterion for the Part II (INO) of IOQ to be evaluated will be similar to the qualification criteria for INO from NSE in previous years.

Must Watch

The criteria for qualification for OCSC on the basis of performance in Part II (INO) of IOQ will be similar to INO-to-OCSC criteria applied in previous years.

Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Physics (IOQP) February 7, 2021 (Sunday) 9:00 – 12:00 hrs
Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Biology (IOQB) February 7, 2021 (Sunday) 14:30 – 17:30 hrs
