96 Students of ALLEN selected for Orientation Cum Selection Camp (OCSC)

Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) Mumbai has declared the list of selected students for Orientation Cum Selection Camp (OCSC). Total 262 students are selected out of which 96 Students are from ALLEN Career Institute. Further after qualifying OCSC, the students will represent India at International level.

Sh. Brajesh Maheshwari, Director of ALLEN Career Institute said that the students of ALLEN are actively participating in the Olympiads and providing their excellence. For the camp, 96 students have been selected, out of which 90 are from classroom programme, 6 students are from Distance Learning Programme and Workshop Programme. There are 17 students selected in the Biology Olympiad, 19 in the Junior Science Olympiad, 18 in Physics Olympiad, 10 in Chemistry Olympiad, 9 in Mathematics Olympiad, 7 in Earth Olympiad, 3 in Informatics Olympiad and 13 students are selected in Astronomy Olympiad from Allen Career Institute.

HBCSE is the premier institution in the country for research and development in science, technology and mathematics education. It is India’s nodal centre for Olympiad programmes in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy and junior science. The programme aims at promoting excellence in science and mathematics among pre-university students. Among the sciences, the Olympiad programme in Astronomy (junior and senior level), Biology, Chemistry, Junior Science and Physics is a five-stage process for each subject separately. The first stage for each subject is organized by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) in collaboration with teacher associations in other subjects. All the remaining stages are organized by Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE). The Mathematics Olympiad is conducted under the aegis of the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM).

After the release of the list, Orientation Cum Selection Camp will be organized by HBCSE from April to June for different Olympiad. In the camp, students will be given special training keeping in mind the International Olympiad. On the basis of performance in the camp, a team of four to six different students will be selected for each Olympiad, who will represent India in the International Olympiad.
