Know how Nikunj achieved high Rank, learn about his preparation, strategy, and secrets of success
Every year, millions of students dream of getting into IIT, but only a few achieve this dream through hard work, discipline, and the right strategy.
Nikunj Agarwal, who excelled in JEE Advanced 2026, is one such student who achieved success through consistent hard work and self-confidence.
Nikunj’s story is not limited to just a good rank. It involves two years of consistent hard work, many ups and downs, the courage to learn from failures, and unwavering faith in his teachers.
His success is an inspiration to millions of students preparing for engineering entrance exams.
Nikunj says that when the JEE Advanced results were announced; he checked them with his parents. He anticipated that he would perform well because he was confident about his preparation and exam experience.
After the results were announced, there was an atmosphere of joy in the family, and everyone celebrated his success. He first called his sister to share the good news. He considers his family’s support a crucial factor in his success.
Preparing for any competitive exam isn’t always a mix of good times. This was the case for Nikunj. He explained that sometimes he didn’t get the test scores he expected. Sometimes the results were excellent, sometimes disappointing.
However, he never let poor performance become his weakness. After every test, he analysed his mistakes and tried to understand the reasons behind his low scores. This habit continued to improve him.
Nikunj believes that simply taking the test isn’t enough; it’s crucial to analyse it thoroughly afterward. He noted his mistakes after each exam and tried to avoid repeating them. According to him, almost every type of mistake can occur during two years of preparation.
The important thing is that students recognize those mistakes and correct them in time.
One of the most important reasons behind his success was the systematic study material and guidance from experienced teachers. Nikunj believes that if a student receives the right guidance, preparation becomes much easier.
He regularly completed the study material, assignments, and homework given by his teachers. This discipline set him apart from others.
Nikunj’s favorite subject was mathematics. He had an interest in mathematics from the beginning, and this was the reason why his performance in it consistently improved. He enjoyed solving mathematics problems.
The habit of solving difficult questions strengthened his problem-solving ability and gave him a great advantage in the exam.
While mathematics was his strength, he found Chemistry relatively difficult. But he accepted this weakness and worked extra hard on it. He constantly reviewed his mistakes, repeatedly reviewed chapters, and solved the questions given by his teachers.
Gradually, his grasp strengthened, and by the time he reached the exam, he performed well in Chemistry as well.
Backlogs are often the biggest problem for students preparing for the JEE. Nikunj says he never allowed a large backlog to build up. If he missed a practice or homework day, he would first focus on current studies and then complete older assignments when he had extra time.
He believes that chasing too much backlog can hamper current preparation.
Many students wonder how to balance self-study with classroom study. According to Nikunj, the two complement each other. Effective self-study involves reviewing what is taught in class at home, rereading notes, and completing homework.
If students practice this regularly, the pressure of additional study is significantly reduced.
During his preparation, Nikunj asked most of his doubts in class. He believes that no question is too big or small. Initially, he wondered if his question was too simple, but later he realized that many other students had the same question.
So, he started asking questions without hesitation, and this habit became a part of his success.
Most students preparing for competitive exams today face stress. But Nikunj didn’t let stress overwhelm him.Whenever he felt pressured, he would talk to his parents, teachers, or friends.
This helped maintain mental balance and made it easier to concentrate on his studies.
Nikunj believes that along with studies, it’s also important to take some time for his favorite activities. During his preparation, he would spend time with his friends and play for a while in the evenings. These short breaks kept him mentally refreshed and energized him for further studies.
Mock tests play a crucial role in succeeding in a challenging exam like JEE Advanced. Nikunj took a large number of mock tests during his preparation. These tests gave him experience with different types of questions, difficulty levels, and exam-like situations.
Sometimes, even different situations were deliberately created so that students could prepare for the exam in all kinds of environments. This experience became the foundation of his confidence on the day of the actual exam.
Nikunj believes that time management can’t be learned only in the exam hall. It requires practice beforehand. He made a rule during mock tests that if a question takes more than five to six minutes, he should skip it and move on.
He could review it later when he had time. This strategy proved very useful for him in JEE Advanced.
Students in JEE Advanced also have many questions about the break between the two papers. Nikunj didn’t study or revise during this time. He simply rested and kept his mind calm. As a result, he approached Paper 2 with full energy and a fresh perspective.
When asked what qualities toppers possess that other students should learn from, his answer was simple. According to him, toppers are those who regularly complete the assignments assigned by their teachers.
They utilize their time wisely and don’t procrastinate on their responsibilities.
In today’s times, social media has become a major distraction for students. Nikunj addressed this challenge through technology. He blocked reels, short videos, and other distracting content.
He only watched essential and useful content. This saved him a lot of time and kept his focus on studies.
Nikunj says that if a student wants to consistently perform well, they must identify their distractions. Reducing or completely eliminating things that hinder their studies is the first step towards success. Consistent, small efforts are the foundation of great success.
Finally, he shared a very important message with all students. He said that students should trust their teachers and follow their guidance. If students sincerely follow the strategies provided by their teachers, study regularly, and maintain discipline, success is certain.
Nikunj Agarwal’s success teaches us that in a difficult exam like JEE Advanced, not only talent but also consistent hard work, proper guidance, time management, and self-confidence are equally important. His journey is proof that if students remain focused on their goals, learn from their mistakes, and continuously improve, no dream is impossible.
His story will continue to inspire millions of JEE Aspirants in the years to come, reminding them that there are no shortcuts to success; it is the result of small, daily efforts.
