Lost Father to Cancer, Mother worked as a Tailor: Now Jigar set to become an IITian

Another Success Story from Career City Kota

The Career and Care City Kota has once again contributed to social change. The story is from Bakalikoda, a small village in Ganjam district, Odisha.

A mother fought tooth and nail for her beloved son and brought glory to her village and family by establishing his career.

Jigar Nayak, an ALLEN student who spent two years in Kota pursuing a career, secured an All India Rank of 5474 and an OBC-NCL Category Rank of 1201 in the JEE-Advanced. He scored a 98.6143 percentile in the JEE-Main. Previously, he scored 95 percent in 10th grade and 87 percent in 12th grade.

Jigar Nayak’s story is an example of struggle, sacrifice, and dreams, an inspiration for everyone. Despite financial hardship, the loss of his father, and the burden of responsibilities, Jigar and his mother, Apoorva, didn’t give up.

To fulfill his dreams, he came to Kota and enrolled at ALLEN Career Institute. After two years of hard work, he finally achieved success, and Jigar is now poised to become the first IITian in his village and family.

Jigar’s father, Jurinath, worked in the textile industry in Gujarat. Everything was going well when he was suddenly diagnosed with cancer. The family underwent extensive treatment, which consumed all their savings.

In 2020, Jigar’s father passed away. The family’s financial situation was already tenuous, and his father’s death completely shattered the family. But his mother, Apoorva Nayak, remained undeterred. She resolved that no matter what difficulties she faced, she would not let her son’s dreams be shattered.

Family Responsibility for Education

Jigar’s mother, Apoorva, shouldered the responsibility of her son’s education while also managing the family. She took out a gold loan and began tailoring by taking door-to-door jobs. Working hard on the sewing machine all day, she supported the household and saved money for Jigar’s education.

At times, financial difficulties became so severe that it became difficult to run the household, but her mother never let her son experience this.

JEE Information from Social Media

Jigar said that until the 10th grade, he didn’t know much about the JEE exam. He first learned about the exam after watching videos about engineering and the JEE exam on social media.

That’s when he dreamed of becoming an IITian. He decided to change his mother’s life through his studies.

Afterward, Jigar came to Kota and spent the last two years preparing for the JEE as a regular classroom student at ALLEN. Due to his poor financial situation, he received a fee waiver in grades 11 and 12.

Working hard for the family’s future

Jigar also has a younger brother who is currently studying in grade 7.

Jigar explained, “I’m working hard not just for myself, but for the future of my entire family. I want my mother to not have to struggle after I complete IIT, and my younger brother to be able to complete his education without any problems.”
