Response Sheets to be released on May 21st
The JEE Advanced 2026 response sheets will be released on the official website on May 21st. The response sheet contains the answers given by candidates during the exam. This means that students can see which option they chose for each question.
The response sheet is crucial for students as it helps them estimate their probable score. Candidates can download it using their login credentials.
Why is the response sheet important?
The response sheet is not only a means of accessing records but also a key basis for comparison with the upcoming provisional answer key.
Students can assess their performance by comparing their answers. Furthermore, if there is any confusion regarding the answer to a question, candidates can also raise objections to the provisional answer key that will be released later.
Provisional Answer Key to be released on May 25th
The examination authority will release the JEE Advanced 2026 provisional answer key on May 25th. It will contain the official answers to all exam questions.
Students will be able to calculate their probable scores by comparing them with their response sheets.
After the provisional answer key is released, candidates will also have the opportunity to raise objections. If a student believes that a question’s answer is incorrect or contains an error, they can submit their challenge within the stipulated time.
How to raise an objection?
To raise an objection to the answer key, candidates must provide proper evidence and solutions. Experts believe that it is important to reference recognized books and authentic sources when raising an objection.
Objections made without solid evidence will not be accepted. Therefore, students are advised to submit challenges carefully.
The answer key objection window will remain open from May 25 to May 26, 2026.
Final answer key and result will be released on June 1.
After reviewing all objections, the exam conducting body will release the JEE Advanced answer key on June 1.
The JEE Advanced 2026 result will also be announced on the same day. The final answer key will be considered final and no challenges will be accepted thereafter.
If an error is found in a question during the review, the answer may be changed or bonus marks may be awarded.
What information will the result contain?
The JEE Advanced 2026 result will include important information such as candidates’ subject-wise marks, total score, All India Rank, and category rank.
Students will be able to download their scorecard by logging in to the official website. Candidates will be allocated seats in IITs based on their rank. Students with higher ranks have a higher chance of getting admission into their preferred branch and prestigious IITs.
The counselling process will begin after the results are released. After the results are released, successful candidates will be required to participate in the JoSAA counselling process. This process will provide admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other technical institutes.
During counselling, students must fill in their college and branch preferences. Seat allocation is based on the candidate’s rank, category, and available seats.
Cut-offs will also be monitored
With the JEE Advanced results, discussions regarding cut-offs will also begin. Cut-offs depends on several factors, including the difficulty level of the exam, the number of candidates, and the total number of seats.
If the paper is considered difficult, the cut-off may be lower. However, if the paper is easy, the cut-off is likely to increase.
Important advice for students
Candidates are advised to rely only on information released on the official website. It is important to avoid rumours from social media or unofficial sources.
Instead of jumping to conclusions after reviewing the response sheet and answer key, analyse your performance patiently. Seek advice from experts and teachers if needed.
Students are advised to keep an eye on all dates and begin preparing for the upcoming counselling process well in advance.
Only the right strategy and accurate information will help candidates reach their dream IIT.
