ALLEN Mangaluru Twins Cracked JEE Together, Will Now Study at NITK Together

Shuban and Sumukh Kamath secure nearly identical JEE Main and KCET ranks

For twin brothers Shuban N. Kamath and Sumukh N. Kamath, success has always been something they experienced side by side.

From growing up together and studying under the same roof to discussing difficult questions and encouraging each other through the pressures of competitive examinations, their journey has been one of shared effort and quiet determination.

Today, that bond has taken them to one of Karnataka’s premier engineering institutions, National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal. Students of ALLEN Career Institute, Mangaluru from last two years, the twins have produced remarkably similar results in both JEE Main and KCET 2026.

Both secured an identical 99.6883568 percentile in JEE Main 2026, with Sumukh securing AIR 5086 and Shuban AIR 5088. Their performance in KCET 2026 was equally impressive, with Shuban securing Rank 66 and Sumukh Rank 69, placing both among Karnataka’s top 100 candidates.

Their academic similarities go back even further. The brothers had scored the same 97% in their Class 10 board examinations, making their latest results another milestone in a journey that has repeatedly seen them perform almost in parallel.

Turned Years of Sibling Support into a Shared Engineering Dream

Both Shuban and Sumukh also qualified for JEE Advanced 2026, opening the doors to the IIT system. Sumukh had an option at IIT Patna, while Shuban had an opportunity to join IIT Dharwad. Yet, instead of allowing their different options to take them in separate directions, the twins sat down and evaluated the choices together.

Their father, Deepak said, “After comparing their opportunities on the basis of their JEE Main performance, academic interests and future prospects, they unanimously decided to join NITK Surathkal.

Sumukh will pursue Electronics and Communication Engineering, while Shuban has chosen Artificial Intelligence, two different academic paths that will allow them to develop their individual interests while continuing to share the same campus”.

When One Twin Has a Doubt, the Other Has an Answer

Behind the impressive ranks is a preparation journey built on discipline, consistency and, most importantly, companionship. Although they maintained their own study routines and often studied separately at home, there was one habit they never changed; they turned to each other whenever they encountered a difficult problem or concept.

One would attempt a question, the other would look at it from a different perspective, and together they would work towards a solution. Their preparation was therefore not a competition between two brothers but a partnership in which each became a source of motivation for the other.

Their journey combined classroom learning at ALLEN, regular practice, self-study, problem-solving and doubt resolution.

A Family Where Academic Excellence Runs Deep

The twins’ achievement adds another proud chapter to the Kamath family’s academic journey. Their elder sister, Diya N. Kamath, is also an ex-ALLEN student and is currently pursuing Computer Science Engineering at PES University, Bengaluru.

Their father, Deepak Kamath, is a software engineer at Infosys, while their mother, Poornima Kamath, is an engineering graduate and homemaker.

ALLEN Mentorship Strengthens Their JEE Journey

The twins’ two-year association with ALLEN Career Institute, Mangaluru, played an important role in shaping their preparation for JEE. ALLEN’s structured academic approach, classroom guidance, pedagogy and mentorship provided the brothers with a focused preparation environment.

Expressing happiness over the twins’ achievement, Mahesh Yadav, Academic Head, South Zone, ALLEN Career Institute, congratulated Shuban and Sumukh and appreciated their dedication and perseverance.

He said their results were a reflection of their grit, determination, hard work and consistent preparation, while also acknowledging the support of their parents and the guidance of their mentors.

Two Paths, One Beginning

Their story is not merely about two brothers achieving almost identical ranks. It is about how two siblings turned a natural bond into a source of strength. They studied separately, but never alone. They competed with questions, not with each other. And when one stumbled, the other was there to help him move forward.

From scoring the same marks in Class 10 to securing the same JEE Main percentile, from finishing among Karnataka’s top KCET candidates to choosing the same premier institute, Shuban and Sumukh have shown that sometimes the strongest competition is not about getting ahead of someone, it is about helping each other go further.
