Understand the process to Fill and Lock Choices
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has started the NEET UG Counselling 2026 Round 2 registration process for candidates seeking admission to undergraduate medical courses through the central counselling process. The NEET UG Counselling 2026 Round 2 seat allotment result will be made available through the MCC counselling portal. Candidates will have to log in to check their allotment status and follow the instructions issued by MCC.
Candidates who are satisfied with the seat allotted to them and do not wish to participate in further rounds can opt for the Freeze option. Such candidates will have to contact the designated Nodal Officer and physically report to the allotted institute for offline document verification. Candidates must complete the reporting formalities within the prescribed period to retain their allotted seat.
Candidates who want to retain their allotted seat while remaining eligible for an upgrade in a subsequent round can choose the Float option. Candidates opting for Float may be considered for a higher-preference seat in the next round based on their submitted choices. According to the MCC guidelines, such candidates are required to contact the Nodal Officer for online document verification and do not need to physically report to the allotted institute at this stage.
If a candidate receives an upgraded seat in a subsequent round, the seat allotted in the previous round will automatically be cancelled and replaced by the new allotment. The upgraded seat will be allotted according to the choices submitted by the candidate for that round. Candidates will then have to complete the applicable admission and document-related formalities.
MCC, along with the respective State Directorates of Medical Education or state counselling authorities, will verify the data of candidates who have joined their allotted institutes. The verification of joined candidates is scheduled to be carried out on September 19, 2026.
Candidates should keep track of the counselling schedule and complete each step before the respective deadline. Registration for Round 2 will continue until September 8, while candidates must also complete fee payment, choice filling and choice locking within the dates prescribed by MCC.
