The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially declared the NEET UG Result 2026, bringing an end to the wait of nearly 20 lakh medical aspirants across the country.

Candidates who appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) can now access their scorecards on the official website, neet.nta.nic.in.

Along with the results, NTA has also published the All India Rank (AIR), category-wise cut-offs, state-wise toppers, category toppers, and language-wise participation statistics.

The timely declaration of the results ensures that the medical counselling and admission schedule for MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, Nursing, and allied courses remains on track.

Nearly 20 Lakh Students Appeared for NEET UG 2026

NEET UG 2026 was conducted on June 21, 2026, at 5,440 examination centres spread across 551 cities in India and 14 international cities. The examination witnessed participation from candidates belonging to every State and Union Territory of the country. As India’s largest medical entrance examination, NEET continues to serve as the single gateway for admission to undergraduate medical and allied health science programmes. This year’s examination was conducted smoothly in 13 different languages, ensuring equal opportunities for candidates from diverse linguistic backgrounds.

11.21 Lakh Candidates Qualify for Medical Admissions

Out of the nearly 20 lakh candidates who appeared in the examination, 11.21 lakh candidates have successfully qualified for admission to undergraduate medical programmes. These qualified candidates are now eligible to participate in the counselling process for MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BSMS, B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing, BVSc & AH, and other allied healthcare courses. The National Testing Agency announced the result according to the scheduled timeline, allowing admission authorities to begin the counselling process without delay.

Women Outperform Men in NEET UG 2026

Female candidates once again registered an impressive performance in the national medical entrance examination. According to the official data released by NTA, more than 58 per cent of all qualified candidates are women. The qualification rate among female candidates stood at 56.8 per cent, compared to 55.1 per cent among male candidates, highlighting the growing participation and success of women in medical education across the country.

Aryan Gupta and Panshul Bansal Secure Highest Marks

The highest score in NEET UG 2026 was 715 out of 720, jointly achieved by **Aryan Gupta from Punjab and Panshul Bansal from Haryana. This year’s examination witnessed outstanding performances from several candidates. As many as 19 candidates scored above 700 marks, while 138 candidates secured more than 690 marks. Additionally, 1,492 candidates scored 650 or above, 10,160 candidates crossed the 600-mark barrier, and 90,780 candidates scored over 500 marks, reflecting the highly competitive nature of the examination.

First-Time Candidates Dominate the Top Ranks

An interesting trend observed in the NEET UG 2026 results is the remarkable performance of first-time test takers. More than 93 per cent of the 138 candidates who scored above 690 marks appeared for NEET for the first time. Furthermore, nearly 99 per cent of these top-performing candidates belong to the 17–19 years age group, indicating that students appearing immediately after Class 12 continue to dominate the national merit list.

Top Performers Represent Every Region of India

The NEET UG 2026 results reflect balanced geographical representation, with qualified candidates emerging from all 36 States and Union Territories. Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of qualified candidates with over 1.7 lakh successful aspirants, while even smaller Union Territories such as Lakshadweep reported successful candidates. State toppers include Jigmet Yangchan Lamo from Ladakh (530 marks), Dhruv Tripathi from Andaman and Nicobar Islands (606 marks), and Fahmida Anees from Lakshadweep (573 marks). Impressively, all North-Eastern states also produced state toppers, showcasing the widespread reach of quality medical education across the country.

Top Rankers Come from 66 Cities Across India

The country’s 138 highest-scoring candidates belong to 66 different cities, demonstrating that excellence in NEET UG is no longer limited to a handful of metropolitan centres. Among the top performers, 17 state toppers scored 700 marks or above, while 26 state toppers crossed the 690-mark milestone. The top 17 candidates, all scoring more than 705 marks, hail from Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, reflecting strong academic performances from multiple regions.

Category-Wise Qualified Candidates Announced

NTA has also released the category-wise statistics for qualified candidates. Among those who cleared the examination, around 2.91 lakh belong to the General category**, **5.12 lakh to OBC-NCL**, **1.59 lakh to Scheduled Castes (SC)**, **63,716 to Scheduled Tribes (ST)**, **95,026 to the General-EWS category**, **3,666 to Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)**, and **303 to the PwD category.** The agency has simultaneously published the official category-wise cut-off marks and qualifying percentiles applicable for the counselling process.

NEET UG Conducted in 13 Languages

Maintaining its commitment to inclusivity, the National Testing Agency conducted NEET UG 2026 in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Conducting the examination in multiple regional languages continues to make medical education more accessible to students from different linguistic backgrounds across India.

Transparent Evaluation Process Ensured Timely Results

NTA completed the evaluation process within the scheduled timeline through an improved and technology-driven workflow. The provisional answer key was released on June 25, 2026, followed by the objection window from **June 25 to June 28**. Candidates were allowed to view their scanned OMR answer sheets and recorded responses between **July 13 and July 15**, ensuring complete transparency in the evaluation process. The **final answer key and NEET UG Result 2026 were both released on July 16**, allowing counselling authorities to proceed with admissions without any delay.

NEET Score Accepted for Multiple Medical Courses**

Apart from MBBS and BDS admissions, the **NEET UG 2026 score** will be used for admissions to a wide range of undergraduate healthcare programmes. These include **BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BSMS, B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing**, and **BVSc & AH** under the 15 per cent Veterinary Council of India quota. The examination is conducted under the provisions of the **National Medical Commission (NMC) Act, 2019**, and other relevant statutory regulations governing medical education in India.

Counselling Process to Begin Shortly

Following the declaration of results, the focus now shifts to the counselling process. The **Medical Counselling Committee (MCC)** will conduct counselling for the **15 per cent All India Quota seats** in MBBS and BDS courses, while the respective State counselling authorities will manage admissions under the **85 per cent State Quota** as well as admissions to private medical colleges and state institutions. Candidates should regularly visit the official counselling portals to stay updated on registration dates, seat allotment schedules, and document verification.

NTA Warns Students Against Admission Frauds

Along with the result announcement, NTA has advised candidates and parents to remain cautious of fraudulent calls, fake websites, and individuals claiming to offer guaranteed admissions or score improvements in exchange for money. The agency has clearly stated that it **never contacts candidates seeking payments or confidential information** for admissions. Students are advised to rely only on official websites for authentic information related to counselling and admissions.

Qualified candidates should now download and preserve their NEET UG 2026 scorecards and begin preparing for the counselling process. It is advisable to keep all important documents, including the admit card, Class 10 and 12 mark sheets, identity proof, category certificates, and other required documents, ready in advance. Aspirants should also research medical colleges, previous years’ cut-offs, fee structures, and seat matrices to make informed choices during counselling.
