From Missing MBBS by 15 Marks in NEET 2025 to securing under 50 AIR in NEET 2026: Ranveer Kumar’s Remarkable NEET Journey
Success in NEET UG is rarely defined by intelligence alone – it is built on perseverance, discipline, and the ability to bounce back from failure. Bihar’s Ranveer Kumar has proved exactly that.
After narrowly missing a government MBBS seat in NEET UG 2025, he returned stronger in 2026, improving his score by an extraordinary 190 marks and securing All India Rank (AIR) 39 with 700 marks. His inspiring comeback has become one of the most talked-about NEET success stories of 2026.
Apart from excelling in NEET UG, Ranveer also appeared for JEE Main 2026, where he scored an impressive 99.37 percentile, highlighting the benefits of preparing for multiple national-level competitive examinations.
Missed Government MBBS Seat by Just 15 Marks in NEET 2025
Ranveer had dreamt of becoming a doctor since Class 10. He moved to Kota in 2023 with a clear goal of cracking NEET and earning admission to a prestigious medical college.
His first attempt came in NEET UG 2025, where he scored 510 marks and secured an All India Rank of around 42,000. Although it was a respectable score, it wasn’t enough to secure a government MBBS seat.
During the 2025 counselling process, government MBBS admissions closed around 525 marks, leaving Ranveer just 15 marks short of fulfilling his dream. Rather than getting discouraged, he made an important decision on the day the results were announced – he would take a drop year and return stronger.

Teachers Challenged Him to Aim for the Top 100
Following his 2025 result, Ranveer’s teachers saw potential that even he had not fully realised. Instead of asking him to simply improve his score, they challenged him to target a Top 100 All India Rank. That ambitious target completely changed his approach.
Instead of focusing only on qualifying, he began preparing like a topper. Every mistake from his previous attempt was carefully analysed, weak areas were identified, and a structured improvement plan was created. This mindset shift became the turning point in his preparation.
190 Marks Higher in Just One Year
Improving even 50 marks in NEET is considered difficult because of the intense competition. A jump of 190 marks is exceptionally rare. Ranveer transformed his score from 510 to 700, demonstrating what focused preparation, proper guidance, and disciplined execution can achieve.
According to his mentors, very few repeaters are able to improve by such a significant margin in a national-level examination. His success has also made him the first doctor in his family.

Scored 700 in Both NEET and Re-NEET 2026
Ranveer had performed brilliantly in the original NEET UG 2026 examination and had already estimated that his score would be close to 700. However, after the examination was cancelled, he had to prepare all over again for the re-conducted test.
Despite the additional pressure, uncertainty, and emotional stress, he maintained his consistency and once again scored 700 marks in the Re-NEET examination, proving that his success was based on preparation rather than luck.
His outstanding performance now puts him in a strong position to pursue MBBS at AIIMS New Delhi, one of India’s most prestigious medical institutions.
Why He Also Appeared for JEE Main
Although his primary goal was medicine, Ranveer also appeared for JEE Main 2026, scoring an impressive 99.37 percentile.
He believes engineering entrance preparation, particularly Physics and Chemistry, strengthens conceptual understanding and exposes students to another highly competitive examination environment.
According to him, solving JEE-level questions improved his analytical thinking and problem-solving ability, ultimately benefiting his NEET preparation as well.

Disciplined Routine That Powered His Success
One of the biggest reasons behind Ranveer’s dramatic improvement was his disciplined daily routine. He maintained approximately six hours of dedicated self-study every day alongside classroom learning.
His preparation strategy was divided equally:
- 50% of study time was devoted to revising previously completed topics.
- 50% of study time focused on practising questions from the concepts taught the same day.
This balanced approach ensured continuous revision while preventing backlogs from piling up.
Living Away from Family Despite Being in the Same City
Interestingly, Ranveer’s mother, younger brother, and sister had also shifted to Kota during his preparation. Yet, he made the difficult decision to stay separately in a hostel.
He believed that maintaining complete focus required an independent study environment with minimal distractions.
Even though his family lived in the same city, he followed a strict schedule and met them only occasionally. That sacrifice became another important factor in his remarkable turnaround.

Mother’s Courage Became His Biggest Motivation
Just before the Re-NEET examination, an unexpected incident tested Ranveer emotionally. His mother, Nishi Singh, was travelling to locate his examination centre when the auto-rickshaw she was travelling in met with an accident and overturned.
She suffered a head injury and had to be rushed to the hospital, where she received stitches. Naturally, Ranveer became anxious. However, instead of allowing him to worry, his mother encouraged him to stay focused on the examination.
In an inspiring display of determination, she even accompanied him to the examination centre the following day despite her injuries, motivating him to give his best. Ranveer considers her encouragement one of the biggest reasons he remained mentally strong during the examination.
Strong Family Support Behind the Success
Ranveer belongs to a supportive family from Paliganj in Bihar. His father, Ranveer Narayan Singh, is a businessman, while his mother, Nishi Singh, is a homemaker.
His younger sister Tanushree, currently studying in Class 11, is also preparing for NEET in Kota, while his younger brother Aryan studies in Class 5.
His parents not only supported his decision to take a drop year but also shifted the family to Kota to ensure he received the best possible academic environment.
