Understanding the CSAB Willingness Options
Candidates who receive a seat must choose one of the available willingness options based on their admission preferences.
Freeze
Candidates satisfied with both the allotted institute and course should select Freeze. This confirms the seat and removes the candidate from further upgradation in the next special round.
Float
The Float option allows candidates to retain the current seat while remaining eligible for an upgrade to a higher preferred choice during Round 2. If no better seat is allotted, the existing seat remains valid.
Slide
Candidates choosing Slide can seek admission to a higher preferred branch within the same institute if seats become available in the next round.
Surrender
The Surrender option allows candidates to give up the current seat while continuing in the counselling process for a better allotment in the next round. This option is not available during the final special round.
Withdraw
Candidates selecting Withdraw completely exit the counselling process by cancelling the allotted or accepted seat.
Exit
The Exit option is available only to candidates who have not been allotted any seat in CSAB and are not holding a seat in the JoSAA/NIT+ admission system. Choosing Exit ends participation in the counselling process.
CSAB Institute Admission Fee (IAF-II) 2026
Candidates allotted a seat in CSAB Special Round 1 must pay the Institute Admission Fee (IAF-II) unless they are exempted under CSAB rules.
| Category | IAF-II |
| General / General-EWS / OBC-NCL | ₹35,000 |
| SC / ST / PwD | ₹16,000 |
Accepted Payment Modes
Candidates can pay the fee through:
- Debit Card
- Credit Card
- UPI
- Net Banking
- E-Challan
- Common Service Centre (CSC)
Important: Candidates who have already secured admission in the NIT+ system by paying both the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) and Partial Admission Fee (PAF) are not required to pay IAF-II.
Reasons Why a CSAB Seat Can Be Cancelled
Candidates should strictly follow all instructions during the admission process. A seat may be cancelled under the following circumstances:
- Failure to respond to queries raised by the Document Verifying Officer within the stipulated deadline.
- Non-payment of the Institute Admission Fee (IAF-II).
- Submission of incorrect, invalid or forged documents.
- Failure to satisfy the prescribed eligibility conditions for admission.
If a seat is cancelled due to non-compliance, the candidate may lose the opportunity to secure admission through CSAB Special Counselling 2026.
How CSAB Special Round Seat Allotment Is Prepared
The seat allocation process in CSAB Special Counselling is conducted using a transparent and merit-based system. Every allotment is determined after considering multiple factors, including:
- JEE Main 2026 All India Rank (AIR)
- Candidate’s preference order submitted during choice filling
- Availability of vacant seats
- Reservation category
- Gender-based seat availability wherever applicable
The final allotment is generated according to the official CSAB seat matrix and reservation policies to ensure a fair admission process for all eligible candidates.
With the CSAB Special Counselling 2026 Round 1 seat allotment now available, candidates should immediately log in to check their results and complete all admission formalities before the deadlines.
Choosing the correct willingness option, uploading valid documents, paying the applicable admission fee, and responding promptly to verification queries are crucial for confirming admission. Candidates aspiring for a better institute or branch should carefully evaluate their willingness option before making a final decision.
