NTA Gives Final Extension for NEET UG 2026 Fee Refund Process

To ensure that every eligible candidate receives the examination fee refund without any delay, the NTA has extended the deadline for verifying and updating bank account information. The decision comes after several candidates reported errors in the bank account numbers and IFSC codes submitted during the earlier refund process.

The extension has been granted to prevent refund failures caused by incorrect banking information and to ensure that the refund reaches the correct account through direct bank transfer.

Why Is the Refund Being Issued?

The refund process was initiated after the NEET UG 2026 examination held on 3 May 2026 was cancelled. Since candidates had already paid the examination fee, the NTA announced that the entire amount would be refunded directly to their registered bank accounts.

To facilitate the refund, candidates were initially asked to provide their bank account details through a dedicated online portal. However, after receiving numerous requests regarding incorrect account information, the agency reopened the correction window. Now, this has been extended one final time to allow every candidate to complete the process accurately.

Who Should Update Their Bank Account Details?

The latest window is useful for candidates who fall under any of the following categories:

  • Candidates who have not yet submitted their bank account details.
  • Candidates who entered an incorrect bank account number.
  • Candidates who provided an incorrect IFSC code.
  • Candidates who wish to verify that their previously submitted details are accurate.
  • Candidates who want to update their account information before the refund is processed.

Even candidates who believe their details are correct are advised to log in and verify the information to avoid any delay in receiving the refund.

Importance of Entering Correct Bank Details

The refund amount will be transferred directly to the bank account provided by the candidate. Any mistake in the account number, account holder details, or IFSC code may result in the refund being delayed or rejected.

Candidates should therefore verify every detail carefully before submitting the form. Since this is the final opportunity provided by the NTA, accuracy is essential.
