CSAB 2026 Special Round Registration Put on Hold
Engineering aspirants waiting to participate in the CSAB 2026 Special Round will have to wait a little longer, as the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) has officially postponed the registration and online choice filling process until further notice.
The registration was expected to begin as per the previously announced schedule, but CSAB has now deferred the process without announcing fresh dates. Candidates are advised to regularly visit the official CSAB website to stay informed about the revised counselling schedule.
Revised counselling timeline expected soon
Although CSAB has confirmed the postponement, it has not yet released a new timeline for the counselling process.
Since registration and choice filling are the first stages of the Special Round, other important events such as the Special Round Enrolment Fee (SERF) payment, seat allotment, online reporting, and admission deadlines are also expected to be revised.
The updated schedule will provide complete details once it is officially published.

CSAB Special Round offers another chance for jee main 2026 candidates
The CSAB Special Round is conducted every year after the completion of JoSAA counselling to fill vacant seats in premier government engineering institutes.
It provides an additional opportunity for candidates who have qualified JEE Main 2026 but could not secure a seat during JoSAA counselling or wish to upgrade their admission.
Through this process, eligible students can compete for available seats in National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs), and other participating institutions across the country.
Registration process will begin after new schedule is announced
Once the revised notification is released, candidates will have to complete the online registration process within the stipulated deadline by paying the required participation fee and filling their preferred choices of colleges and courses.
They must carefully review and lock their choices before the last date, as failure to complete these steps will make them ineligible for seat allotment in the Special Round. Completing every stage on time is essential to remain in the admission process.

Seat Allotment Will Be Based on Merit and Preferences
The CSAB Special Round seat allotment process follows a transparent admission system based on several factors. Seats are allotted according to the candidate’s JEE Main 2026 rank, reservation category, preferred institutes and branches, and the availability of vacant seats after JoSAA counselling.
Candidates are therefore advised to prepare their preference list carefully to maximise their chances of securing admission to their desired institute.
Keep all admission documents ready in advance
Even though the registration has been delayed, candidates should use this additional time to organise all the required documents.
These generally include the JEE Main 2026 scorecard, Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets and certificates, category certificate (if applicable), PwD certificate (if applicable), passport-size photographs, valid photo identity proof, and any other documents specified by CSAB.
Keeping these documents ready will help candidates complete the admission formalities without any last-minute difficulties.

Stay updated to avoid missing important deadlines
The postponement of the CSAB 2026 Special Round registration gives students more time to prepare, but they should not become complacent. As soon as the revised schedule is announced, all counselling activities are expected to move quickly.
Candidates should keep checking the official CSAB portal regularly and complete registration, fee payment, choice filling, and other admission formalities within the prescribed timelines.
Missing any deadline could result in losing the opportunity to participate in the Special Round and secure admission to a preferred engineering institute.
The postponement of the CSAB 2026 Special Round registration and choice filling is only a temporary delay in the counselling process.
Aspirants should utilise this additional time to finalise their college preferences, prepare the necessary documents, and stay updated with official notifications.
Being ready before the revised schedule is released will ensure a smooth and hassle-free counselling experience when the registration process resumes.
