Expert explained that after the JEE-Advanced results, the biggest concern among students and parents is choosing a college and branch. Every student wants a good IIT and their preferred branch.
Students with an All India Rank under 100 are likely to get admission into Computer Science at top IITs like Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, and Madras.
If we consider the first choice of students, the CS branch at IIT Mumbai remains, which closes in the top 61. After this, students give second priority to CS at Delhi. The third priority is given to Computer Science branches at Kanpur and Madras.
Between 100 and 500 ranks, MNC, AI, and Data Science courses at Delhi and Kanpur can be found, Electrical at the four IITs mentioned above, and CS at Kharagpur.
Between 500 and 1000 ranks, CS courses at BHU, Roorkee, Hyderabad, and Guwahati are likely to be found, and core branches at Mumbai, Delhi, and Kanpur.
Students with ranks between 1000 and 4000 are likely to find Computer Science courses at Gandhinagar, Indore, Rupar, Mandi, Jodhpur, Dhanbad, Patna, and Bhubaneswar, and other branches besides Computer Science at IITs Mumbai, Delhi, Kanpur, and Kharagpur, such as Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Aerospace, Production, etc.
Students with a rank between 4000 and 8000 can expect to find Civil, Chemical, and Metallurgy courses in Roorkee, Guwahati, Kharagpur, Hyderabad, and Varanasi, lower branches in Mumbai, Delhi, Kanpur, and Madras, and CS courses in Palakkad, Tirupati, Goa, Dharwad, Bhilai, and Jammu.
Students with a rank between 8000 and 12000 can expect to find core branches in Ropar, Mandi, Indore, Gandhinagar, Jodhpur, Bhubaneswar, Patna, and Dhanbad, as well as branches like Biological Science, Naval Architecture, Mining Engineering, Polymer Science, and Ceramic Engineering in the seven older IITs.
Students with a rank between 12,000 and 17,000 can expect to find other branches in newer IITs like Palakkad, Tirupati, Goa, Dharwad, Bhilai, and Jammu.
The chances of getting an IIT branch at the above rank vary according to the category. Furthermore, the 20% female pool quota given to girl students increases the chances of getting a branch at the above IIT even at a lower rank.
Students whose JEE-Advanced All India Rank is very low have the option of applying to IIPE Visakhapatnam and Rajiv Gandhi Petroleum based on JEE-Advanced. The application process for all these institutes has already begun.
