JEE-Advanced 2026 Application Process Begins April 23

IIT Roorkee will conduct the exam; candidates will have to choose 10 exam centres

The application process for JEE-Advanced 2026—one of the country’s most prestigious engineering entrance examinations—is set to commence on April 23.

With the National Testing Agency (NTA) having released the JEE-Main 2026 results, students have now turned their focus toward JEE-Advanced 2026.

Since this examination serves as the gateway to admission into the nation’s top IIT institutions, both its preparation and the application process are considered to be of paramount importance.

IIT Roorkee to Conduct the Examination

This year, JEE-Advanced 2026 will be organized by IIT Roorkee. The examination is scheduled to be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, across two shifts.

The first shift will run from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, while the second shift will take place from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Both papers are mandatory, and each has been allotted a duration of 3 hours.

The examination pattern is designed to assess the candidates’ analytical abilities and in-depth understanding of the subject matter.

Application Process and Important Dates

Registration for JEE-Advanced will begin on April 23 and continue until May 2, 2026. Interested candidates are required to submit their applications online within the stipulated timeframe. While applying, candidates must log in using their JEE-Main 2026 application number and password.

Special Instructions Regarding Password Security

Candidates have been advised to exercise particular caution regarding security during the application process.

The organizing body has explicitly stated that students should change their existing passwords to create a new, strong password.

Furthermore, under no circumstances should candidates share their login credentials with any other individual, in order to prevent any form of fraud or unauthorized activity.

Required Documents and Certificates

At the time of application, students will be required to scan and upload their Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets, a valid identity proof, and their category certificate (if applicable).

For candidates belonging to the OBC and EWS categories, it is mandatory that their certificate be issued on or after April 1, 2026.

If such a certificate is not available, candidates must fill out and upload the declaration form provided in the information bulletin. This will allow them sufficient time to procure a new certificate before the commencement of the first phase of counselling.

Selection of Examination Centres

During the application process, candidates are required to select 10 examination centres based on their convenience.

This option is provided to ensure that students have the opportunity to take the examination at a location near their home or at their preferred choice.

Application Fee and Eligibility

The application fee for JEE-Advanced 2026 has been fixed at ₹1,600 for female candidates and those belonging to the SC/ST categories, while for all other categories, the fee is set at ₹3,200.

Out of approximately 1.6 million students who appeared for JEE-Main 2026, only the top 250,000 candidates are granted the opportunity to appear for JEE-Advanced. Category-wise cut-off scores for this purpose have also been released.

Results and Subsequent Process

The results for JEE-Advanced 2026 will be declared on June 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM.

Following the announcement of the results, successful candidates will be required to participate in the counselling process, based on which seats will be allotted to them in IITs and other prestigious institutions.
