NEET-UG 2026 Re-Exam-NTA claims to declare result as soon as possible

NTA Confident About Examination Integrity after Nationwide Re-Test

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has indicated that the results of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination will be announced at the earliest possible opportunity, bringing relief to millions of medical aspirants awaiting the next phase of the admission process.

Following the successful completion of the nationwide re-test on June 21, NTA Director General Abhishek Singh told media that the agency is working to ensure that results are declared quickly so that medical counselling and admissions are not delayed.

Expressing confidence in the examination process, he said that the re-examination was conducted under extensive security arrangements after the original NEET-UG 2026 exam held on May 3 was cancelled due to allegations of paper leaks and organized malpractice.

Results Expected Earlier Than Anticipated

With the examination now over, the focus has shifted to result preparation and the commencement of counselling for undergraduate medical admissions.

Speaking after the examination, Abhishek Singh said that the agency is prioritizing the evaluation process to minimize any disruption to the academic calendar.

According to him, the results will be declared as soon as possible, allowing the admission process to proceed smoothly and ensuring that students do not face unnecessary uncertainty. The assurance comes as a welcome development for more than 20 lakh candidates who appeared for the re-examination and are eagerly awaiting their scores.

NTA Reports No Paper Leak Complaints

One of the biggest concerns surrounding the re-examination was whether authorities would be able to prevent the issues that led to the cancellation of the original test. Addressing these concerns, Singh stated that the agency has not received any complaints, reports, or emails related to paper leaks following the re-test.

He emphasized that the NTA is fully confident about the integrity of the examination process and the effectiveness of the security measures implemented this time.

According to the agency, initial feedback from examination centres and state authorities has been overwhelmingly positive, indicating that the exam was conducted smoothly and without major incidents.

The re-examination was conducted just 37 days after the Government of India announced the cancellation of the original NEET-UG 2026 examination. Organizing an examination for more than 20 lakh candidates within such a short period posed significant logistical and administrative challenges.

Despite the complexity of the task, the NTA successfully coordinated with multiple stakeholders across the country to arrange examination centres, deploy staff, implement security measures, and communicate updates to students.

‘Team Bharat Supported Team NTA’

Highlighting the scale of cooperation involved, Singh described the effort as a “whole-of-government approach.”

He noted that support came from various ministries, state governments, local administrations, police departments, and examination authorities. The coordinated effort helped ensure that the examination was conducted efficiently while maintaining both security and convenience for candidates.

The NTA credited this collective support for the successful execution of one of the largest entrance examinations in the country.

More Than 20 Lakh Candidates Appeared

While final attendance figures are still being compiled, preliminary estimates suggest that participation remained largely consistent with expectations.

According to the NTA, more than 20 lakh candidates appeared for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination across thousands of examination centres nationwide. The strong turnout reflects the importance of NEET-UG as the gateway to undergraduate medical, dental, AYUSH, and allied healthcare programs across India.

Counselling Process Expected to Begin Soon after the results

Once the results are announced, the next major stage will be the commencement of counselling for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other medical courses. Authorities are expected to release detailed counselling schedules shortly after the declaration of results.

Students are advised to keep their documents ready and regularly monitor official announcements regarding counselling registration, seat allotment, and admission procedures.

A Crucial Step towards restoring confidence

The successful conduct of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination marks an important milestone in restoring trust in India’s largest medical entrance examination.

With no paper leak complaints reported so far, extensive security arrangements in place, and strong coordination among government agencies, the NTA has projected confidence in the credibility of the process.

As millions of aspiring doctors now await their results, the focus remains on the timely declaration of scores and the smooth commencement of the medical admission process for the 2026 academic session.
