Candidate Workflow & Specific Instructions for OMR Challenge

If a candidate finds any discrepancy between the answers they marked on their physical OMR sheet and the responses read/recorded by the scanning agency, or an error in the capturing of vital data fields from their OMR sheet, they may challenge the recording through the online portal by following the procedure below:

Step 1: Login & Authentication

  • Visit the official NTA examination website.
  • Log in using your Application Number and Password.
  • Complete the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) by entering the OTP received on your registered mobile number and email ID.

Step 2: Accessing the Challenge Portal

  • Click on the link designated as “View/Challenge OMR Sheet & Recorded Responses”.
  • You will see the high-resolution scanned copy of your submitted OMR sheet alongside the

data fields and options read by the scanning machine.

Step 3: Identifying and Selecting Discrepancies

Candidates can raise an objection regarding the OMR Responses if they do not match the data records available with the NTA:

  1. OMR Responses: Review the recorded choices question by question. If a recorded option differs from what you marked on the sheet, select the question number and tick your claimed option.

Step 4: Fee Payment

For every individual challenge raised (per response mismatch or per data field error like Roll No. / Booklet No. / Set Code), the candidate is required to pay a processing fee of 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred Only).

This processing fee is refundable if the candidate’s claim is verified as correct and it is established that the scanning agency read the parameters erroneously. The total fee, calculated automatically by the system based on the number of challenges, must be paid online via Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, or UPI.

Step 5: Submission & Acknowledgement

Once the payment is successfully processed, click on “Submit Challenge”.

Candidates must download and print the Acknowledgement Page containing the transaction details and the summary of challenges raised for all future references.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHALLENGING THE OMR RESPONSES BY THE CANDIDATES

  1. Candidates are advised to carefully review the scanned image of their OMR Answer Sheet before submitting any challenge.
  2. Only responses marked by completely darkening the appropriate circle using a Blue or Black Ball Point Pen will be treated as valid OMR responses.
  3. Only one circle should be darkened for each question. If more than one circle is marked or darkened for a question, the response will be treated as invalid and will attract negative marking, in accordance with the applicable marking scheme.
  4. Once a response has been marked on the OMR Answer Sheet, it cannot be changed. Any overwriting, alteration, or attempt to modify the marked response may affect its reading by the OMR Scanner.
  5. Stray spots, stray marks, partial markings, or any other unintended marks on the OMR Answer Sheet may be incorrectly interpreted by the OMR Scanner.
  6. The response recorded by the OMR Scanner is based solely on the markings made by the candidate on the OMR Answer Sheet.
  7. Candidates should submit a challenge only after carefully comparing the scanned image of the OMR Answer Sheet with the response displayed on the portal.
  8. Any challenge submitted by a candidate will be processed in accordance with the prescribed procedure.
  9. If it is found that a challenge has been submitted on the basis of a manipulated or tampered scanned image of the OMR Answer Sheet, the matter shall be treated as a case of Unfair Means (UFM).
