NTA’s Security Measures for the NEET-UG 2026 Exam

‘Breaches’ Now Impossible! Discover How Technology and Strict Measures will safeguard NEET-UG exam

The moment for India’s most prestigious medical entrance examination, NEET-UG 2026, is fast approaching. Following recent questions raised regarding the integrity of examinations.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has this year erected an ‘impenetrable wall’ of security, designed to restore its credibility and win back the trust of students that will be absolutely impossible for anyone to breach.

Approximately 22.79 lakh candidates will try their luck in this mega-examination, scheduled to take place on May 3, 2026. Let us delve deeper to understand the changes that will be visible at the examination centres this time around.

High-Tech Verification: Concealing Identity Is Now Impossible

  • To crack down on ‘solver gangs’ (impersonators) and individuals attempting to take the exam on behalf of others, the NTA has this time made AI-based Facial Recognition and Digital e-KYC mandatory.
  • The photograph captured during the registration process will be cross-matched with the student’s actual face inside the examination hall.
  • Biometric protocols will be strictly enforced, thereby completely barring the entry of fraudulent candidates.

5G Jammers and Smart Surveillance

  • In this technological era, methods of cheating have also evolved; consequently, the NTA has deployed 5G Jammers as a strategic countermeasure.
  • These jammers will completely neutralize mobile data, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi signals within the vicinity of the examination centre.
  • Furthermore, AI-enabled cameras installed at the centre will continuously scan and monitor every movement of the students. If a student exhibits unusual movements or engages in suspicious activity, the system will automatically send an alert to the headquarters.

‘Smart’ Security for Question Papers

  • To completely eradicate incidents of paper leaks, the transit of question papers has been integrated with GPS tracking.
  • Digital locks have been installed on the boxes containing the question papers, which will open only at the scheduled time.
  • To further bolster security, the question papers will be transported to the centres under police protection, thereby reducing the possibility of tampering during transit to zero.

Dress Code and Thorough Frisking

The NTA has made it clear that discipline within the examination hall is paramount. Students must adhere to the following rules:

  • What to Wear: Only half-sleeved shirts/T-shirts and simple sandals or slippers.
  • What Not to Wear: Shoes, clothing with large buttons, wristwatches, jewelry, or any type of electronic gadget.
  • Additional Screening: Students who wear specific attire for religious reasons must arrive well in advance of the reporting time to undergo a thorough security check.

Re-verification after Bio-breaks

It has often been observed that students attempt to cheat during breaks. To prevent this, the NTA has established a rule stating that if a student leaves to use the restroom, they will undergo a complete re-verification (Biometric & Frisking) upon their return.

Resolution of Technical Glitches

If a student’s fingerprint or facial scan fails to match due to technical reasons, there is no need for them to panic. Officials have been instructed that, in such cases, the student should be permitted to sit for the examination based on manual verification and a written declaration (Undertaking), ensuring that their precious time is not wasted.

Special Advice for Students

Along with your preparation, it is equally important that you understand the protocols for the day of the examination.

  • Ensure you read all the instructions provided on your Admit Card at least twice.
  • Arrive at the centre at least 2 hours in advance so that the security frisking process can be completed smoothly.
  • Do not pay heed to any rumours of any kind; place your trust solely in your own hard work.

These measures undertaken by the NTA will not only prevent malpractice but also deliver justice to the millions of hardworking students who have been waiting this day for years.

In this new battle for transparency, technology has emerged as the most powerful weapon. Are you preparing for NEET 2026? What are your thoughts on these new security regulations? Do let us know in the comments!
