Seat Allotment Shows Minimal Change in MBBS Cutoffs

The Rajasthan NEET UG 2026 counselling process for admission to MBBS and BDS programmes under the 85% state quota is progressing after the declaration of the NEET UG 2026 result.

The Rajasthan State Medical and Dental Counselling Board is conducting the state-level admission process for eligible candidates seeking seats in government and private medical and dental colleges across the state.

The provisional seat allotment result for the second round has been released. The Round 2 allotment data indicates that there has been only a marginal movement in the closing ranks compared with the first round, particularly for MBBS seats in government medical colleges.

Government MBBS Closing Rank Moves by Only 337 Ranks

For the general category, the closing rank for relatively low-fee MBBS seats in government medical colleges stood at 14,220 in Round 1, corresponding to a NEET UG score of 589 marks. In Round 2, the closing rank moved to 14,557, while the NEET UG score declined by just one mark to 588.

This means the closing rank slipped by only 337 positions between the two rounds, indicating that competition for government MBBS seats in Rajasthan continues to remain strong.

Rajasthan State Counselling Closes Higher Than Central Quota

Career counselling expert Parijat Mishra said that the difference between Rajasthan’s state counselling and the 15% All India Quota counselling is significant. In Round 2 of the central counselling, the closing point was reported at 566 marks and an All India Rank of 25,655.

Compared with this, the Rajasthan state counselling closing point for the general category was 588 marks and AIR 14,557. Thus, the Rajasthan state quota closing score was 22 marks higher, while the difference in All India Rank stood at 11,098 positions.

General Girls Category Sees Minor Rank Movement

The general category for female candidates also showed limited movement between the two rounds. The closing NEET UG score remained unchanged at 589 marks. However, the closing rank moved from 13,956 in Round 1 to 14,198 in Round 2.

The relatively small movement in both the score and rank suggests that demand for MBBS seats under the Rajasthan state quota has remained largely stable during the second round of counselling.

SMS Medical College Remains Top Choice

Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Medical College in Jaipur continued to be the preferred choice among candidates seeking admission through Rajasthan NEET UG counselling.

Among the government medical colleges, SMS Medical College remained the most sought-after option, while Government Medical College, Banswara, was among the colleges selected towards the end of the preference list.

The preference pattern highlights the continued popularity of established government medical institutions, particularly those located in Jaipur.

Management Quota Cutoff Remains Stable

For the management quota seats in Raj-MES and government medical colleges, the general category closing rank remained unchanged from the first round. The closing point was recorded at 534 NEET UG marks and an All India Rank of 51,035.

However, some movement was recorded in specific categories. Changes between Round 1 and Round 2 were observed for general-category girls, OBC boys, EWS girls and MBC girls. Other categories largely retained their Round 1 closing positions.

Rajasthan NRI MBBS Cutoffs Show Wide Variation

The NRI quota also recorded a significant difference between candidates from Rajasthan and those belonging to other states. For Rajasthan-state NRI candidates seeking government MBBS seats, the closing rank stood at 10,39,206, corresponding to 205 NEET UG marks.

For NRI candidates from other states, the closing rank was 9,96,205, with a NEET UG score of 213 marks. The figures show a considerable difference in closing scores and ranks across the two NRI categories.

BDS Cutoff Remains Almost Unchanged

The second round of counselling brought little change in the BDS admission cutoffs as well. The closing rank for the general category among male candidates remained at 41,492, with a NEET UG score of 546 marks.

The same closing score and rank were recorded in the first round, indicating that the BDS cutoff remained stable between the two counselling rounds.

Medical Academic Session Begins From September 15

Meanwhile, the new medical academic session is scheduled to begin from September 15 in accordance with the directions of the National Medical Commission.

Candidates who have secured seats through the Rajasthan NEET UG 2026 counselling process need to complete the required admission and reporting formalities within the stipulated timeline.

Rajasthan NEET UG Round 2 Reporting From September 15 to 18

Candidates who receive a new seat allotment in Round 2 can download and print their online allotment letter between September 15 and September 18. The allotment letter will be available through the candidate’s registered login using the required credentials.

During the same period, candidates will have to pay the first-year tuition fee through the online payment facility, as specified in the allotment letter.

Original Documents Required for College Reporting

Candidates allotted seats in government or private medical and dental colleges will have to report personally between September 15 and September 18 at the Academic Block of SMS Medical College, Jaipur, along with their original documents.

Candidates should also carry four sets of the final printout of their submitted application form. The online payment receipt must also be kept ready for the reporting and admission process.

Free Exit Option Not Available in Round 2

Candidates should note that the second round of Rajasthan NEET UG state counselling does not provide a free-exit option. Therefore, candidates who receive a seat in Round 2 need to carefully follow the applicable admission rules before making a decision regarding the allotted seat.

Candidates who join their allotted college can, however, participate in the third round of counselling as per the applicable rules. In such a case, their security deposit will not be forfeited, subject to fulfilment of the prescribed conditions.

Candidates Accepting Seats Need Not Participate Further

Candidates who are satisfied with the college allotted to them can accept the seat at the college desk. After accepting the allotted seat, they do not need to participate in subsequent counselling rounds.

The acceptance and other required formalities have to be completed personally by the candidate within the prescribed reporting period. Aspirants are advised to carefully check their allotment letter and follow all instructions issued by the Rajasthan State Medical and Dental Counselling Board.

What Candidates Should Do After Round 2 Allotment

Rajasthan NEET UG 2026 Round 2 candidates should complete all admission formalities within the deadline, including downloading the allotment letter, paying the prescribed tuition fee, arranging original documents and reporting personally at the designated venue.

Candidates should also retain copies of all submitted documents and payment receipts for future reference.

The limited movement in MBBS and BDS closing ranks between the first and second rounds indicates continued demand for medical seats in Rajasthan.

Candidates who have received an allotment should therefore ensure that they complete the reporting and fee-payment process within the specified dates to avoid complications in admission.
