Issues Important Instructions for Candidates
Millions of medical aspirants across the country have received significant relief. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has initiated the fee refund process for students who appeared in the medical entrance exam, NEET UG 2026.
The agency has officially activated the fee refund portal, where candidates can claim their fee by entering their bank account details.
The NEET UG 2026 exam was held on May 3rd but was cancelled following allegations of paper leaks and exam irregularities.
Following this, the agency decided to fully refund the exam fee to all candidates. Now, furthering this process, the refund facility has been launched. The NEET-UG 2026 re-examination will be held on 21st June.
NEET UG 2026 Refund Portal Activated
According to the official notification released by the NTA, candidates can now submit their refund claims by logging into the NEET UG 2026 registration portal. Candidates must login using their application number and password or date of birth.
Upon logging in, candidates will see a “Fee Refund” link, where they must enter the required bank account information.
The agency has also clarified that no changes will be accepted after submitting bank details. Therefore, students are advised to enter all information with utmost care.

Bank details can be submitted until May 27
The NTA stated that the refund portal has been activated from May 22, 2026. Candidates can submit their bank details until 11:50 pm on May 27, 2026.
The portal will be closed after the deadline. The agency has also advised students who have not yet updated their bank details to complete the process before the deadline to avoid any refund issues.
What information must be provided?
To receive a fee refund, candidates must enter the following information:
- Account holder’s name on the bank account
- Bank account number
- IFSC code
- Bank name
Candidates may also upload a scanned copy of a cancelled check to simplify the verification process. This feature is optional, but the agency recommends uploading it to ensure accuracy.
Advice against making chargeback requests
The National Testing Agency has specifically warned students against making any “chargeback” requests for the NEET UG 2026 exam fee through banks or payment gateways.
The agency states that the refund process has already been initiated through the official portal and all eligible candidates will be refunded as per the prescribed procedure. However, technical issues may arise if a separate chargeback is initiated.

How to Apply for a NEET UG 2026 Fee Refund
To complete the refund process, candidates need to follow a few simple steps:
- Go to the official website.
- Login using your application number and password/date of birth.
- Click on the “Fee Refund” link.
- Enter the correct bank account details.
- Upload a scanned copy of a cancelled check, if required.
- Verify all information and submit the final form.
- Once the form is submitted, candidates will not be able to make any changes to the bank details.
Exam Cancelled Following Paper Leak Controversy
The NEET UG exam, held on May 3, 2026, sparked nationwide controversy. Allegations of question paper leaks and exam irregularities surfaced in several states. The matter gained national attention, with millions of students questioning the fairness of the exam.
Following the growing controversy, the government and investigative agencies launched an investigation into the matter. Following this, the National Testing Agency decided to cancel the exam and conduct a re-examination.
Re-NEET Exam to be Held on June 21
The NTA has announced that the NEET UG 2026 re-examination will be held on June 21, 2026. The exam will be held in pen-and-paper mode from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM.
Admit cards, exam centres, and other guidelines regarding the re-examination will be released soon. Students are advised to regularly check the official website to avoid missing any important updates.

NEET UG is considered the country’s largest medical entrance exam. Every year, millions of students appear for this exam with the dream of becoming doctors.
