JEE Main 2026 AIR-6 Shubham – Faculty Guidance Crucial for Success

Spectacular Success in JEE Main: The Story of Shubham Kumar’s Hard Work, Strategy, and Balance

JEE Main 2026 AIR 6 Shubham Success Story

Preparing for engineering entrance examinations is not merely about studying for long hours; rather, it is the result of the right direction, discipline, and continuous self-assessment.

The journey of Shubham Kumar—who delivered an outstanding performance in JEE Main—serves as a perfect example of how immense success can be achieved through a balanced strategy and proper guidance.

The Core Mantra for Success

According to Shubham, Faculty guidance is crucial for success in prestigious and tough examination like IIT JEE.  The core mantra for success is to follow the teachers and mentors in academic learning.

Aspirants should follow what faculty is teaching and should adhere to their instructions regarding JEE preparation. Aspirants should reach out to their teachers and mentors in case of any doubt in the studies.

Furthermore, taking regular tests, analysing them thoroughly, and rectifying one’s mistakes constitute the key to success.. Shubham advises students to place their trust in their teachers and mentors. Learning from their experience and applying those insights to one’s own preparation is absolutely essential.

Family and Inspiration: Guidance from Home

Shubham Kumar hails from Gaya, Bihar. His father is a hardware merchant, while his mother is a homemaker. An academic atmosphere has prevailed in the family from the very beginning—a fact best exemplified by his elder sister, who is currently pursuing her B.Tech degree at IIT Patna. His sister’s achievements inspired Shubham, prompting him to set engineering as his own career goal as well.

This inspiration was not limited merely to setting a goal; throughout his preparation phase, he also received continuous guidance from his sister, which significantly strengthened his strategy and study methodology.

The Kota Experience and Study Environment

Shubham has been residing in Kota and preparing for the exams for the past year and a half. Initially, he was a quiet and reserved student; however, he gradually established a rapport with his batchmates and formed an effective study group.

The competitive environment of Kota, coupled with the guidance of experienced faculty members, proved to be immensely beneficial for him. Alongside regular classroom instruction, discussions with peers and consistent practice further deepened his understanding of the subjects.

The Right Approach to Studying: Balance and Consistency

There is often a common misconception that academic toppers study for 16 to 18 hours a day; however, Shubham debunks this myth. According to him, consistency is far more important.

He dedicated approximately six hours daily to self-study, while another six hours were spent attending coaching classes. Thus, his primary focus was on the quality of his study sessions, rather than simply the duration of the time spent studying.

The Role of Doubts and Group Study

Personally, Shubham prioritizes self-study; however, whenever he encountered a doubt, he would discuss it with his friends or teachers. He believes that discussing doubts not only helps one understand one’s own mistakes but also provides an opportunity to learn from the errors made by others.

Studying in a group also fosters a sense of healthy competition, which serves as a motivation for better performance.

Test Practice and Exam Temperament

Shubham appeared for both attempts of the JEE Main examination. He believes that the first attempt provides experience, while the second attempt offers an opportunity for improvement.

Taking mock tests consistently helped him feel less nervous during the actual examination. According to him, there is usually a slight amount of stress at the beginning of an exam; however, as soon as one starts solving the paper, one’s focus becomes entirely centered on the questions.

Study Material and the Use of Technology

Shubham thoroughly solved the study material provided by his coaching institute, which included theory, practice questions, and previous years’ questions.

Furthermore, he paid special attention to test analysis. After every test, he would review his mistakes and strive to avoid repeating them.

Online platforms also proved helpful in analyzing his performance and improving his time management skills.

Revision and Note-Making Strategies

Shubham considers revision to be a crucial component of his success. Regular revision is particularly essential for subjects like Chemistry.

He preferred to revise at night, as this helped him retain information for a longer duration.

Regarding note-making, he firmly believes that notes should be completed during the class itself. These notes prove to be most useful just before the examination; therefore, it is essential to update and revise them periodically.

How to Deal with Backlogs

According to Shubham, it is quite common to miss out on minor topics during the course of one’s studies; however, these pending tasks should not be left unattended for too long.

He utilized his weekends to complete any pending work or unfinished tasks. By creating a systematic to-do list, he kept his preparation on track.

Mindset and Clarity of Goals

During JEE preparation, students face various pressures—board examinations, competitive exams, and anxieties regarding the future.

Shubham believes that amidst all this, the most crucial aspect is maintaining focus and staying away from distractions.

His goal is to secure admission into a premier IIT, as, in his view, the right college plays a pivotal role in shaping the trajectory of one’s future.

Shubham Kumar’s story demonstrates that success requires not merely hard work, but also—to an equal extent—the right strategy, discipline, and self-analysis.

If students prepare with consistent practice, proper guidance, and a positive mindset, they can achieve remarkable success even in a challenging examination like the JEE.
