Complete MCC Counselling Dates, New Rules, Registration Process and Round-wise Timeline
Candidates seeking admission under the 15% All India Quota (AIQ), AIIMS, JIPMER, Central Universities and Deemed Universities can now prepare according to the official timeline.
This year, MCC has introduced several important changes to make the counselling process more convenient. The updated counselling system reduces unnecessary travel, enables online document verification for many candidates and streamlines the seat upgradation process.
According to the official schedule, the first round of online registration will begin on August 5, 2026, while the counselling process for Round 1 will continue until August 22, 2026. The academic session for undergraduate medical courses will commence from September 8, 2026.

The Ministry has fixed September 8, 2026, as the commencement date of the MBBS, BDS and undergraduate medical academic session.
Candidates are advised to complete all admission formalities within the prescribed reporting dates to avoid cancellation of their allotted seats.
One of the biggest highlights of NEET UG Counselling 2026 is the introduction of an improved reporting and seat upgradation mechanism.
Earlier, candidates seeking seat upgradation had to physically report to their allotted institute even if they intended to participate in the next counselling round. This year, MCC has divided candidates into two categories:

Candidates satisfied with their allotted seat can choose the Freeze option. They must physically report to the allotted institute, complete document verification and secure admission.
Candidates wishing to upgrade their allotted seat can opt for the Float option. These candidates no longer need to physically report immediately. Instead, they can upload their documents online for verification while remaining eligible for seat upgradation in the next round.
Another major reform is the introduction of one-time online document upload.
Candidates choosing the Float option will upload scanned copies of all required documents on the MCC portal. The allotted institute will verify these documents online.
If any discrepancy is found, the institute will raise a query, allowing candidates to upload corrected documents within the reporting period. Once verified, the candidate becomes eligible for participation in the next counselling round without visiting the college physically.

Candidates who freeze their seats must visit the allotted institute with original documents for physical verification and admission.
Similarly, after Round 3, all candidates who receive a fresh allotment or whose seats are retained after the final upgradation process must physically report to complete admission formalities.
Like previous years, MCC will conduct four online counselling rounds:
These rounds will cover admissions under:

The NEET UG Counselling 2026 process introduces several student-friendly reforms aimed at making admissions faster, more transparent and more convenient.
The introduction of online document verification, Float and Freeze options, and a simplified reporting mechanism is expected to reduce unnecessary travel while ensuring a smoother counselling experience.
Candidates should carefully follow the official counselling schedule, complete registration within the specified deadlines, upload all required documents correctly and stay updated with notifications released by MCC to maximise their chances of securing their preferred medical college.
