ALLEN Students Make India Proud at IESO 2026
Students of ALLEN Career Institute have delivered an impressive performance at the international level by winning five medals, including three gold and two silver, at the 19th International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO) 2026 held in Turin, Italy.
ALLEN students Riddhi Ranjan and Soumik Mandal were part of the four-member Indian team and showcased their talent across multiple categories, bringing recognition to both the country and their institute.

IESO 2026 Held in Turin, Italy
According to ALLEN President Vinod Kumawat, the 19th International Earth Science Olympiad was organised in Turin, Italy, from August 20 to 27, 2026.
Riddhi Ranjan and Soumik Mandal represented India as members of the four-student national contingent. Competing at the international level, both students displayed strong subject knowledge, analytical abilities and teamwork to secure medals for the country.
Riddhi Ranjan Secures Gold and Silver
ALLEN student Riddhi Ranjan delivered a notable performance in two categories at IESO 2026. Riddhi won a gold medal in the International Team Field Investigation (ITFI) category, demonstrating strong field-based Earth Science skills while working as part of an international team.
Riddhi also secured a silver medal in the Earth System Project (ESP) category, further adding to India’s medal tally at the Olympiad.
Soumik Mandal Wins Two Gold Medals
Soumik Mandal emerged as another standout performer for India, winning two gold medals at the international competition. He secured gold in both the International Team Field Investigation (ITFI) and Individual Test categories.
Soumik also won a silver medal in the Earth System Project (ESP) category, taking his individual medal tally to three and making a significant contribution to India’s overall performance.
Five Medals Won by Two Allen Students
Together, Riddhi Ranjan and Soumik Mandal secured three gold and two silver medals for India at IESO 2026. Their medals came across individual, team and project-based categories, reflecting their all-round performance in Earth Science.

India’s Three-Stage Earth Science Olympiad Selection
In India, the selection process for the International Earth Science Olympiad is conducted in three stages by the Geological Society of India, Bengaluru. The journey begins with the Indian National Examination Earth Science Olympiad (INESO), through which students are shortlisted for the subsequent stage.
This is followed by further assessments and a training camp, after which the final four-member Indian team is selected to represent the country at the international Olympiad.
ALLEN Students Earn Places in Indian Team
The selection journey proved particularly successful for Allen, with three of its students qualifying for the second stage of the national selection process.
Following the subsequent training camp and national-level selection, Riddhi Ranjan and Soumik Mandal were selected among the four students who represented India at the 19th IESO in Turin.
Their selection itself reflected their strong performance throughout the rigorous national-level process.
Strong Performance Across Multiple Categories
At the international Olympiad, students participated in various oral and written examinations, field investigations and project-based activities.
Riddhi and Soumik demonstrated their capabilities across different formats, with both students earning gold in the ITFI category and silver in the ESP category.
Soumik additionally secured gold in the Individual Test, underlining his strong individual performance at the competition.
