Mocked for Her Curved Spine by Classmates, Bhumika Answered with NEET-UG Success

Bhumika, a student at ALLEN, suffering from Kyphoscoliosis, overcame her illness with courage.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Even physical challenges cannot be a hindrance in the face of strong willpower, hard work, and determination. Bhumika Rathod, a classroom student at Allen Career Institute, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, is an inspiring example.

Bhumika didn’t let her physical challenges become a weakness and successfully cleared the NEET-UG 2026, securing admission to the MBBS course at BJ Medical College, Pune. Bhumika secured AIR 2157 in the PH (Physically Handicapped) category in the NEET exam.

Bhumika, speaking about her success, said, “I have a curved spine. When I was in school, kids would make fun of me behind my back. It was very unpleasant, but I don’t consider my condition a weakness. I resolved to become a doctor and I answered it only after achieving it.”

Bhumika is happy with her success. She says that with the support of her parents and guidance from her faculty, every goal became easier. She hopes to become a good doctor and help people overcome illnesses.

Narendra Singh, Center Head at Allen Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, said that Bhumika’s courage is an inspiring example for other students. Children who get intimidated by small problems, such examples teach them to move forward. We are proud of Bhumika’s hard work and success.

S-Shaped Spine

Bhumika has been born with a physical condition called kyphoscoliosis. Due to this condition, her spine is shaped like the English letter “S.” This causes her posture to become crooked, and she struggles to sit or stand for long periods of time.

Continuing her studies amidst these health challenges wasn’t easy, but Bhumika never let her circumstances get in the way of her dreams. Bhumika passed 10th grade with 82 percent marks and 12th grade with 86.83 percent marks.

Bhumika is a single girl

This journey has been challenging for Bhumika’s family as well. Bhumika’s father, Gorakshanath, runs a private school and junior college, while her mother, Vandana, is a homemaker.

When the issue of her treatment and surgery came up, doctors informed the family about the serious risks involved, fearing that she could suffer paralysis in one arm and one leg or face lifelong mobility difficulties.

In such a situation, Bhumika’s grandparents refused to undergo surgery, and Bhumika, despite her illness, set out to fulfill her dream of becoming a doctor. During her NEET coaching, Bhumika’s father was incredibly supportive.

He personally picked her up and dropped her off. He changed his daily routine and constantly received updates from the faculty on her performance.

Continuing her studies amidst challenges

Bhumika explained that her aunt is a doctor, and seeing her inspired her to dream of becoming a doctor. Despite her health issues, she continued to work hard while preparing for NEET.

Without the support of Allen’s faculty, this success would have been impossible. Sometimes, she would get discouraged when she scored low on a test, but the faculty would motivate her, and she would work hard to improve on the next test.

To all those students who are struggling with some physical problem like me, I would like to tell them that if there is determination and hard work towards the goal, then challenges can be turned into opportunities.
