MCC Reopens NEET UG 2026 Seat Resignation Window
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has reopened the resignation and seat withdrawal facility for candidates allotted seats in Round 1 and Round 2 of NEET UG Counselling 2026.
The facility is available for eligible Freeze and Float candidates who wish to give up their allotted seats. According to the latest MCC update, the resignation window will remain open from 3:30 PM on September 17, 2026, to 6:00 PM on September 18, 2026.
Candidates should complete the process within the prescribed deadline to ensure that their resignation is recorded successfully. (Medical Counselling Committee)
Candidates planning to resign from their allotted NEET UG 2026 seats should note that the security deposit will be forfeited when they use this resignation facility.
MCC has reopened the window after receiving requests from candidates seeking withdrawal from seats allotted in the first two rounds of counselling.
The decision applies to candidates covered under the conditions specified by MCC for Round 1 and Round 2 resignation. (Shiksha)
The resignation facility is applicable to candidates who accepted a seat allotted through MCC NEET UG 2026 Round 1 or Round 2 counselling and subsequently wish to withdraw.
Candidates whose status is Freeze or Float may be eligible under the MCC notice, subject to the specified conditions. Float candidates whose seats were not upgraded in a subsequent round can also use the prescribed resignation process.
Candidates should carefully check their individual status and the MCC instructions before proceeding. (Medical Counselling Committee)
Candidates who selected the Freeze option and want to resign from their Round 1 or Round 2 seat have to follow the prescribed physical resignation procedure at the allotted institute.
Such candidates should approach the concerned college within the specified time and complete all formalities required for resignation. The process should be completed before the MCC deadline so that the resignation is formally recorded.
Candidates who opted for the Float option and were not upgraded in subsequent counselling have to complete the resignation or seat withdrawal process online through the MCC portal.
They should log in to their MCC counselling account and follow the instructions displayed for seat withdrawal. After completing the online process, candidates must generate the Seat Withdrawal Slip from the MCC portal and retain it safely as proof of their resignation.
MCC has advised Float candidates to ensure that the Seat Withdrawal Slip is successfully generated after completing the online resignation process. If the required withdrawal slip is not generated, the resignation may be treated as “Null & Void.”
Therefore, candidates should not consider the process complete until they have generated and saved the system-generated withdrawal document. (Medical Counselling Committee)
Candidates should carefully consider their decision before withdrawing from an allotted seat. Once the resignation or withdrawal process has been completed, the candidate will have no claim over the resigned seat.
MCC has also advised candidates to ensure that all required formalities, including the resignation letter or online Seat Withdrawal Slip wherever applicable, are properly completed.
With the Round 3 counselling process scheduled to begin shortly, candidates who are still holding seats from earlier rounds should carefully review their options before resigning.
MCC’s official website contains the latest notices, counselling schedules and candidate instructions for NEET UG 2026. Candidates should rely on the official MCC portal for any changes or further instructions regarding seat resignation and withdrawal. (Medical Counselling Committee)
The MCC has also published the schedule for the upcoming rounds of UG counselling. According to the latest schedule available on the MCC website, Round 3 registration and fee payment are scheduled from September 22 to September 27, 2026, followed by choice filling and locking.
Candidates who are planning to participate in the next round should keep track of the official schedule and complete each activity within the prescribed timeline. (Medical Counselling Committee)
