JEE Advanced 2026 AIR-12 Aryan Raghupathy Reveals his Study Secrets

Small Goals, Consistent Effort, and the Right Guidance Led to Great Success

The success story of Aryan Raghupathy, who secured All India Rank (AIR) 12 in JEE Advanced 2026, is an inspiration for millions of students aspiring to gain admission to the IITs. Achieving a top rank in one of India’s toughest engineering entrance examinations is never easy, but Aryan proved that no goal is unattainable when preparation is guided in the right direction.

His success mantra was simple: set small daily goals, work consistently, and trust the guidance of experienced teachers.

Building the Foundation from Class 6

Aryan began preparing for competitive examinations at a very early stage. From Class 6 onward, he became part of an academic environment that emphasized strengthening logical thinking and conceptual understanding.

During these formative years, he developed a strong grasp of fundamental subjects, which later played a crucial role in his JEE preparation. According to him, a strong foundation is the first requirement for achieving any major success.

Olympiads Sparked a Passion for Learning

During Classes 8 and 9, Aryan participated in several Olympiad examinations. These competitions not only enhanced his analytical abilities but also nurtured his curiosity for learning new things.

He believes Olympiads are much more than exams, they teach students how to think, understand concepts deeply, and approach problems from different perspectives. This mindset later became one of the key factors behind his success in JEE Advanced.

Choosing Engineering as a Career

After completing Class 10, Aryan decided to pursue engineering as his career goal. His natural interest in science and mathematics, combined with a family background in engineering, reinforced this decision.

He views engineering not merely as a degree but as a way of developing problem-solving skills. This perspective motivated him to begin his JEE preparation with complete dedication.

The Biggest Secret of Success: Focus Only on the Next Step

One of the most important principles of Aryan’s preparation was staying focused on the present instead of worrying about the future.

He explains that many students become stressed thinking about an examination that is still two years away, whereas he concentrated only on the next test, the next chapter, and the next target. This approach kept his preparation simple and stress-free.

He believes that when students focus only on the next step, large goals automatically break down into smaller, manageable tasks that become easier to achieve.

Regular Tests and Self-Analysis Created an Edge

Aryan considered regular testing an essential part of his success. After every test, he carefully analysed his mistakes in detail. He focused on understanding which questions were incorrect, why they were wrong, and how he could avoid repeating similar errors in the future.

According to him, the purpose of a test is not merely to score marks but to identify weaknesses and eliminate them. This habit of continuous improvement helped him stay ahead of other aspirants.

Turning Mathematics from a Weakness into a Strength

Today, Aryan is among the country’s top rankers, but he openly admits that mathematics was initially his weakest subject. In the early stages of preparation, he struggled to understand several mathematical concepts. However, he never gave up.

Through consistent practice, patience, and proper guidance, he transformed his weakness into one of his greatest strengths. His journey demonstrates that no subject remains permanently difficult if a student continues to work on it with determination.

Viewing JEE Main and JEE Advanced as One Goal

While many students prepare differently for JEE Main and JEE Advanced, Aryan adopted a unique approach. He kept his entire preparation focused on the Advanced level and believed that if one is prepared for JEE Advanced, JEE Main preparation naturally falls into place.

He never treated the two examinations as separate entities but considered them part of the same journey. This mindset played a significant role in his outstanding performance.

An Effective Strategy inside the Examination Hall

According to Aryan, maintaining mental balance during the examination is extremely important. While solving the paper, he focused only on the next question and avoided thinking about the outcome or previous questions.

He also aimed to finish the paper ahead of time so that he could review his answers at the end. This strategy allowed him to correct minor mistakes and improve his final score.

Maintaining a Balanced Life alongside Studies

There is a common belief that JEE aspirants must sacrifice all their hobbies and interests. Aryan disagrees with this notion.

During his preparation, he regularly played cricket and watched web series for relaxation. He believes that sports, entertainment, and adequate rest are just as important as studying. A balanced lifestyle helps reduce mental stress and enables students to perform better over the long term.

Ten Hours of Quality Study Is Enough

Aryan believes that success does not depend solely on studying for extremely long hours. He says that if a student studies with complete concentration and sincerity for 8–10 hours a day, it can be sufficient for an examination like JEE.

According to him, the quality of study is always more important than the quantity. Ten focused hours of study are far more effective than fifteen unfocused hours.

The Priceless Contribution of Teachers and Mentors

Aryan gives significant credit for his success to his teachers and mentors. In his view, good teachers do much more than explain academic concepts.

They provide direction, motivation, and confidence. During difficult phases of preparation, their guidance helped him overcome discouragement and stay focused on his goals.

A Special Message for Future JEE Aspirants

Aryan’s advice to future JEE candidates are straightforward and practical. He encourages students to focus on the present rather than worrying about results or the future. They should strive to learn something new every day and continuously improve themselves.

According to him, if students consistently work toward self-improvement and enjoy the learning process, success will eventually follow.
